rEsource and eBook Collection:

What is rEsource?

rEsource is simply the name given to University of Phoenix’s system of online textbooks and course materials. rEsource has replaced the majority of traditional textbooks, and most continuing education courses now use rEsource. rEsource also gives students access to the University’s online library, which contains more than 20,000 periodicals.

Within rEsource is the Center for Writing Excellence, which lets students electronically submit their papers for review by experienced tutors. WritePointSM, part of the Center for Writing Excellence, provides feedback within minutes on papers submitted by students. It will provide recommendations for basic grammar, word usage, and formatting issues. All of these services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week via rEsource.

How does rEsource work?

rEsource can be accessed through the Student Web site (http://ecampus.phoenix.edu). Once logged on, select the “Open rEsource” icon in the Current Course box. (This box includes the course name, instructor name, and course schedule.) Clicking on the icon takes students to the rEsource page, which includes links to course readings and more.

Course objectives, readings and assignments are organized by workshop (class). For instance, to obtain the readings for the first workshop, select the title under Week One and a list of the readings will appear. Click on any reading link and the file will open as an Adobe “Reader” file (in .pdf format). (Adobe Reader is used for most reading materials, and can be downloaded at no cost from www.adobe.com/products).

What is the eBook Collection?

The eBook Collection is the newest addition to rEsource. It houses hundreds of ebooks on management, business, technology, and education, and students can search those books, browse or read them.

When this icon appears in front of a reading, it signals that the reading is in eBook format and part of the eBook Collection. These materials can be read in Web format or in Adobe Reader format. Most students have found that viewing the reading materials in Web format is the preferred option because it is accessible at all times, and the font size and page width are adjustable.

To download ebooks in Adobe Reader format, please refer to the step-by-step instructions prior to starting the download. These instructions are available at www.phoenix.edu/ebooks/activating.asp.
