About Dutton

Samantha E. Dutton, PhD, LCSW, is a seasoned Executive Director and Education Leader with over 25 years of experience in hospital, clinic and education settings. Her journey encompasses executive leadership, quality assurance and strategic planning, showcasing a commitment to excellence in healthcare and education.

In her role as Associate Dean at the University of Phoenix since 2016, Dr. Dutton oversees all aspects of program operations, faculty management, curriculum development and accreditation processes for the Bachelor of Science in Social Work program. Her proactive leadership ensures the college's growth and efficiency, and she plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape.

Previously, in her role as Executive Director of Clinic Operations in the United States Air Force, Dr. Dutton demonstrated exceptional leadership, overseeing large teams, managing substantial budgets, and ensuring the delivery of quality mental healthcare.

As Director of Behavioral Medicine and earlier as Family Support Center Director, Dr. Dutton displayed her versatility by leading educational programs, managing budgets and implementing community-focused initiatives within the military context. Her achievements include developing behavioral medicine curricula, managing abuse shelters and receiving recognition for leading the best Family Support Center in the Air Force.

Dr. Dutton holds a PhD in Social Work and Social Research from Portland State University, an MSW from New Mexico Highlands University, and a BSW from the same institution. 

With additional qualifications in leadership, clinical social work, and disaster management, Dr. Dutton holds leadership roles in professional organizations, such as the National Association of Social Workers, Tennessee Chapter, exemplifying her commitment to the social work community.
