About Buenger

Mr. Buenger retired from the USAF as a lieutenant colonel in 2007 after 22 years of service and has over 30 years of experience in the information technology and cyber security arenas. Mr. Buenger was stationed at the Pentagon during the 9/11 attacks. He is an accomplished public speaker and publisher on various IT and cybersecurity topics. 

Mr. Buenger is an experienced instructor within the cybersecurity profession, fulfilling roles for cybersecurity, networking, and cloud security in the College of Business and Information Technology (CBIT) at the University of Phoenix.

Mr. Buenger has been a University of Phoenix faculty member since 2008 and is a member of the College of Business and IT Faculty Council. He also serves on IT Faculty Council and has led many CAM/GFM trainings since 2011.

He has divided his time at the University between facilitating business and IT courses, serving on various university councils, and assisting in the development of business, IT, and cybersecurity courses as a subject matter expert.

Mr. Buenger is an Associate Director in the Government and Public Sector for Security Governance at Ernst & Young (EY). He is responsible for enabling government agencies to achieve their mission of protecting the nation and serving the people, increasing public safety, improving healthcare for the U.S. military, veterans, and citizens, delivering essential public services, and helping those in need. He is also responsible for safeguarding classified information, controlled unclassified information, and other confidential information in a mix of EY information systems and EY-operated federal information systems.

 Mr. Buenger’s professional experience includes:
