College credits explained: Do they expire?
When you successfully complete a course at an accredited higher education institution, you earn college credits, which are units that count toward your degree. You may be able to apply these credits towards a program at another college or university if they meet the receiving institution's transfer policies and the program's requirements.
The good news is that college credits never expire. However, the transfer of credits is at the discretion of the receiving institution. At University of Phoenix, we’ll evaluate your past credits to see how they fit into your chosen program. Keep in mind, the number of transferable credits can vary by program, as they each have their own requirements.
Example
Total credits required (Bachelor’s): 120 credits
Course name: English Composition I
Applied transfer credits: 3 credits
