PHOENIX, Aug. 8, 2016 — Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) and University of Phoenix have again come together to celebrate America’s most inspirational moms across the country. The hard work and commitment of three incredible mothers has been recognized by the two organizations with full-tuition scholarships towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree from University of Phoenix.
This year’s Most Inspirational Moms include:
“This scholarship is a way for us to acknowledge moms who have put the needs of others before their own, even if it meant putting their own professional development on hold,” said Edwin Link, national vice president of Program, Training & Youth Development Services at BGCA. “Along with University of Phoenix, we are so excited to honor these three exceptional women and their commitment to their communities and themselves.”
“In making possible these scholarships for mothers, we highlight what they teach all children: the value of hard work and education,” said Timothy P. Slottow, president of University of Phoenix. “Mothers embody much of what we value most at University of Phoenix. They leave nothing up to fate. They sacrifice for their families. They know pride and humility. They give blood, sweat, and sometimes, tears. They are an example to us all in defying the odds and fulfilling their desires and dreams.”
This marks the fourth year of partnership between BGCA and University of Phoenix to recognize and celebrate the hard work, leadership and perseverance of mothers who put their children, families and communities before themselves every day. The energy moms devote to helping their kids and teens realize their potential guides their families on a path to success, even while putting their own goals and aspirations on hold. With the Most Inspirational Moms scholarship, BGCA and University of Phoenix acknowledge the sacrifices these moms have made, and celebrate the many ways that moms inspire others.
The Most Inspirational Moms program promotes a culture of family achievement and raises awareness about how Boys & Girls Clubs and University of Phoenix are creating great futures for parents and youth. The program builds on an ever-growing relationship between BGCA and University of Phoenix to provide education and skill-development opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders.
