University of Phoenix is pleased to announce that several esteemed faculty members from the College of Business & Information Technology served as volunteer judges for the National Undergraduate Negotiation Competition. The annual event aims to facilitate learning, emphasize negotiation skills, and build self-confidence by connecting students from students with other universities, business professionals, and negotiation experts. Faculty members Troy Adams, Richard Bowman, Don Braunstein, Dr. Lise Hautzinger-Forrest, Niraj Kohli, Scott Romeo, and Dr. Patrick Sherman served as judges and Don Braunstein delivered a lunchtime presentation during the event. The in-person competition took place on April 5-6, 2024, at the Northern Arizona University campus in Phoenix, Arizona.

"We are proud to have faculty members at University of Phoenix who are dedicated to giving back to the community and sharing their professional experiences in meaningful ways,” shares Dean of the College of Business and Information Technology, Kathryn Uhles. “Our faculty not only show up every day to give our students their best, but they extend their impact by attending competitions like this and fostering the next generation of business professionals.”

The National Undergraduate Negotiation Competition gives university students a valuable opportunity to build essential negotiation skills. Student teams engage in simulated negotiations with peers from other universities, receiving valuable feedback from experienced judges after each round. The competition aims to facilitate learning, emphasize negotiation skills, and build self-confidence among participants.

The competition format includes four 35-minute rounds, each featuring challenging negotiation and conflict resolution scenarios. Judges provide feedback after each round, ultimately determining which teams will advance to the finals.

Skills-based learning opportunities are emphasized in both the National Undergraduate Negotiation Competition and University of Phoenix programs. University of Phoenix’s work in the field of digital badging is tied to the understanding that employers are increasingly shifting to a skills-based focus to better support hiring and retention strategies, a change that is supporting opportunities in diversity of talent, career mobility, performance and ease of hiring.

University of Phoenix works with Credly to issue its digital badges and has issued over 450,000 digital badges since September 2021, for skills obtained in undergraduate, graduate, and professional development courses.
