University of Phoenix is pleased to announce the appointment of Hal D. Morgan, MBA, senior director of Accreditation and Online Education, to the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) baccalaureate and graduate degree Board of Commissioners. In this role, Morgan will assist the Council in its mission to pursue a better tomorrow by advancing and recognizing excellence in business education through continuous improvement. Morgan is the newest member recently appointed to the Board.
“The ACBSP Board of Commissioners has a responsibility to hold institutions and programs accountable for their service to students,” states John Woods, Ph.D., provost and chief academic officer of University of Phoenix. “Hal brings decades of experience and professional excellence to this role and in support of the accreditation mission.”
ACBSP is a global business education accrediting body and the first organization to offer accreditation to all levels of collegiate business educational degree programs from associate to doctoral. ACBSP’s accreditation process is based on the Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence. By evaluating aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support, ACBSP assesses whether business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
“It’s an honor to be selected to serve on this Board,” shares Morgan. “Accreditation is incredibly important to the success of institutions and the students they serve, and I am committed to upholding the ACBSP standards and leadership in business education.”
Morgan’s career spans 27 years of higher education, distance education, and business school administration and teaching experience. As senior director of Accreditation and Online Education, Morgan oversees institutional accreditation, business accreditation, and online education quality assurance and continuous improvement. He has more than 10 years of experience in higher education institutional and programmatic accreditation serving as an ACBSP Evaluator and Mentor, Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Peer Reviewer, and most recently, an Arbitrator for the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
ACBSP accreditation focuses on recognizing teaching excellence, determining student learning outcomes, and a continuous improvement model. ACBSP’s student-centered teaching and learning approach, which is measured and analyzed for quality, ensures that students gain the right skills from their educational investment. Institutions with programs accredited by ACBSP are committed to continuous improvement that ensures their business program will give students the skills employers want.
University of Phoenix has been continuously accredited by ACBSP since 2007 and the next Year 10 comprehensive evaluation and visit for reaffirmation is scheduled for 2027.
Morgan has been an employee with University of Phoenix since 1995.
