Workplace Accessibility Awareness, Skills and Opportunities in IT, Healthcare and Education

Narrative Report

In order to better understand workplace accessibility awareness and practices for employees with disabilities, University of Phoenix commissioned with The Harris Poll a survey of managers in information technology, education and healthcare. The survey explores accessibility in internal systems/management, accessibility in developing products, services and/or activities, demand for accessibility skills, the role of accessibility in professional development and organizational accessibility improvements. The survey findings illustrate an overall value of accessibility skills in the workplace fields of healthcare, education and technology with opportunities to increase understanding of what accessibility skills are, as the majority of managers anticipate an increase in the demand for employees with accessibility skills in the next five years.
