University of Phoenix Hosts Educational Equity Webinar on Combatting Discrimination

By Michele Mitchum

Event features Natalie Gillard, an award-winning creator and facilitator supporting transformative change

University of Phoenix is pleased to announce it will be holding the newest webinar in its Educational Equity Webinar Series, titled “Combatting Discrimination with Gamification” on February 15, 2024, at 11:00am MST. The event is part of a public series intended for educators, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) practitioners, higher education leaders and administrators, employers, nonprofit organizations, government affiliates, and University of Phoenix faculty, staff, students, and alumni across the globe.

"We’re thrilled to host a webinar on meaningful ways to combat discrimination and have the chance to examine the factors that compound inequality," shares Tondra Richardson, MBA, director of Student Diversity & Inclusion at University of Phoenix, and a host of the series. “Especially during Black History Month, the opportunity to host a facilitated dialogue to help support transformative change is exciting, and we look forward to an honest and impactful conversation."

The event will be facilitated by Natalie Gillard, the award-winning creator of FACTUALITY, a facilitated dialogue, crash course, and interactive experience, designed to simulate structural inequities. For nearly a decade, Natalie has led virtual and in person FACTUALITY facilitations for over 60,000 global participants. FACTUALITY has supported professional development initiatives at hundreds of multinational companies, universities, government agencies, and nonprofits.

"FACTUALITY has been designed to meet participants wherever they may find themselves on their social equity journey, even if FACTUALITY is the first stop. The program's success lies not just in its capacity to gamify fact-based inequities, delicately, but also in its proven ability to expand perspectives within minutes. I look forward to engaging program attendees in a powerful hour of meaningful experiential learning."

The discussion will be hosted by Tondra Richardson, MBA, director of Student Diversity & Inclusion and Saray Lopez, MBA, director, Student Diversity & Inclusion, both with the Office of Educational Equity (OEE) at University of Phoenix. The Educational Equity Webinar Series is part of a series of events with which the OEE engages aiming to foster cultural awareness, thought leadership and community alliances to promote and sustain educational equity and diversity initiatives. The OEE supports students and faculty year-round with programs like the Inclusive Leadership Summit and an internal offering for staff and faculty, The Inclusive Café.
