Dr. Leo Maganares

Dr. Leo Maganares embarked on a multifaceted career journey that began as a Naval Officer. Graduating with a BS in Naval Engineering in 1980, they subsequently assumed the role of Chief Engineer aboard various ships. However, their path took an intriguing turn when they encountered the Total Quality Leadership Theory during postgraduate studies at the Naval Postgraduate School. In 1995, after resigning from the Navy as a Commander Engineer, Dr. Maganares transitioned into the realm of higher education.

Over the years, Dr. Maganares has held pivotal positions, including Director of Academic Affairs, Dean of Education, and esteemed Faculty member. Their scholarly pursuits culminated in a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Change from Fielding Graduate University in 2007. Not one to rest on laurels, they also obtained a Data Science certification from the University of Texas, Austin in 2022.

Currently, Dr. Maganares operates as an independent Data Scientist and serves as a Quantitative Analysis Facilitator at the University of Phoenix. Their impact extends far and wide: having taught an impressive 257 classes, they’ve influenced the academic journeys of 4864 students since 2008. Dr. Maganares’s unwavering commitment to student service and leadership has garnered multiple well-deserved awards.
