These are resources to assist you through the doctoral journey. Some require you to log into my.phoenix.edu with your student/faculty credentials.
Resources within this section include Dissertation Guide and Alignment Handbook, Dissertation Criteria Assessment, Committee Roles and Responsibilities, Change Matrix, and Oral Defense information.
- Alignment Chart (Login Required) Aligning your research problem, purpose, and research questions to the research methodology you chose can be a difficult concept. This worksheet will help you learn how to align your work. Included on the worksheet are links to other helpful resources.
- Blank Change Matrix (Login Required) This is the template of what needs to be submitted to your committee with each change.
- College of Doctoral Studies Dissertation Guide and Alignment Handbook (PDF) Students should download and print off a copy of the guide. The Guide shares information about each phase and tells students what is needed for each section of the dissertation.
- Dissertation Chapter 1 Resources (Login Required) Resources include previously recorded webinars, tutorials, worksheets, and other helpful information intended to help students write Chapter 1.
- Dissertation Chapter 2 Resources (Login Required) Resources include previously recorded webinars, tutorials, worksheets, and other helpful information intended to help students write Chapter 2.
- Dissertation Chapter 3 Resources (Login Required) Resources include previously recorded webinars, tutorials, worksheets, and other helpful information intended to help students write Chapter 3.

- Dissertation Chapter 5 and Oral Defense Resources (Login Required) Resources include previously recorded webinars, tutorials, worksheets, and other helpful information intended to help students write Chapter 5. There are also resources to help students prepare for oral defense and next steps after graduation.
- Dissertation Chapter Review (Login Required) The document includes links to resources for each chapter of your dissertation. Individual chapter resources are also linked below. Resources include previously recorded webinars, tutorials, worksheets, and other helpful information intended to help students write their dissertation.
- Dissertation General Resources (Login Required) Resources include previously recorded webinars with a variety of topics. Some topics include ideas to help students organize their research. The document also includes webinars from guest speakers, former students, experts in the field, and Dissertation of the Year winners.
- Dissertation Committee Roles and Responsibilities (PDF) The document shares committee member roles and responsibilities.
- Dissertation Criteria Assessment (PDF) The DCA is the rubric that is used to evaluate students during each milestone in the program. Students should refer to the DCA to make sure they are meeting dissertation criteria.
- Dissertation Oral Defense Module (Login Required) This module reviews the purpose, structure, and best practices of the oral defense process.
- Dissertation Phase 1 Resources (Login Required) Resources include previously recorded webinars, tutorials, worksheets, and other helpful information intended to help students write Chapter 1 and get started in the research process and formulate ideas for dissertation topics.
- Doctoral Dissertation Template (Login Required) Students writing their dissertation should download the template here. The template is properly formatted and offers additional directions to write each section of the dissertation.
- Problem and Purpose Statement Worksheet (Login Required) When writing a dissertation, the problem and purpose statements need to be written in a way that is specific to the research design chosen. Students can fill out this worksheet to assist in writing a proper problem and purpose statement.
- Sample Change Matrix (PDF) This is a sample of what needs to be included with each change submitted to your committee. It shows detailed information on what needs to be listed.
- Sample Defense Template (Optional) (Login Required) This is an optional template that can be used for your oral defense presentation.

Resources within this section include APA example formats for tables and figures, APA reference assistance, writing tools, and a guide about edititng services.
- APA Example Formats for Tables and Figures (PDF) This example provides acceptable formats for tables and figures in your dissertation.
- APA Style This provides APA Reference Examples.
- APA Style Reference Guide (PDF) APA citation format for journal articles, books, and edited books.
- Doctoral Advance Writing (Login Required) This module focuses on improving doctoral students’ academic writing skills and reviews critical areas of writing, including grammar conventions, academic language, tone, and integrating feedback.
- Doctoral Writing Resource Center Website (Login Required) The Doctoral Writing Resource Center is a valuable tool for students to learn to write like a scholar. Students have access to APA help and tutorials, templates, recorded webinars, and much more. The Writing Center hosts regular live workshops as well.
- Outside Editing Services (PDF) Guideline regarding outside editing services since the University of Phoenix does not provide editing services.
- Recite Recite checks that your in-text citations match the reference list at the end of your work. Please note that Recite does require you to create an account to use it.

Resources within this section include information on how to book an appointment with a librarian, guide for literature review and writing discussion questions, and the YouTube Channel for the University of Phoenix Library.
- Book a Library Appointment (Login Required) College of Doctoral Studies students can meet with a librarian to help find reputable research articles, as well as receive assistance in finding research to support the problem statement.
- Discussion Resources (Login Required) Assist students in understanding the importance of formulating and asking good questions.

- Literature Review (Login Required) This is a guide on how to create a literature review.
- University Library (Login Required) View the landing page for the university library.
- University Library YouTube Channel this channel features tutorials and how-to videos about various library resources.
Research Resources

Resources within this section includes information on statistics help, CITI, RefWorks, PowerNotes, and SAGE.
- Central Tendency (Login Required) This is a video that discusses how to find the central tendency.
- CITI Learn how to be an ethical researcher. Students will obtain CITI certification during their program.
- Finding UOPX Published Dissertations (Login Required) Review previously completed dissertations by UOPX alumni.
- Independent & Dependent Variables (Login Required) This is a video that discusses independent and dependent variables.
- Join the Research Methodology Group (Login Required) This is the page for the Research Methodology Group from RSE, which contains webinars and resources for students.
- Khan Academy This external site has various videos for assistance with statistics concepts.
- PowerNotes Video (Login Required) PowerNotes helps users gather, organize, and use that same research when creating their assignments. In addition, the tool allows for the ability to download this same research directly into Microsoft Word. Which helps to remove the concern mistyping the content or missing a citation.
- RefWorks Use RefWorks to manage, gather, store, and share your research. It’s ideal for doctoral students completing their dissertation research but can be helpful to students at any level who wish to store their research long-term.
- Research Hub The Research Hub is a dedicated place to find information about conducting research studies, both while a student, and after graduation. The Research Hub hosts live events and offers resources to guide students.
- Research Methodology and Design Resources (Login Required) Resources include previously recorded webinars, tutorials, worksheets, and other helpful information. Included is a webinar recording of almost every research design. Students should watch the webinar for the design they choose. Statistics and mathematical resources are also included.
- SAGE Method Maps (Login Required) Research methods are the systematic tools used to find, collect, analyze, and interpret information. The SAGE Methods Map can help you explore different methods and find the right one for your research.
- SAGE Project Planner (Login Required) The SAGE Project Planner helps you design your research project and work through your literature review. It covers defining a topic, types of literature to consider, developing a research question, planning, ethics, data collection, and analysis.
- Scales of Measurements (Login Required) This video discusses the four scales of measurements.
- Statistics Help Videos (Login Required) This page has short video examples of basic statistics concepts.
- Use SAGE Research Methods (Login Required) This page has tools within SAGE along with videos on how to use SAGE.
- Which STATS Test (Login Required)Do you know which statistical test you should use to answer your question? This tool can help you narrow down your options. Get help with understanding and analyzing statistics.
